Have you been noticing your vehicle is slower to stop than usual? Have you been hearing squealing noises when you apply your brakes? If you answered yes to either question, then you likely have something wrong with your brakes, and probably need to replace them. At General Automotive Servicenter, we’ve been helping Marylanders with their brakes for years, and wanted to share a few signs that you need new brakes.
If you’ve been hearing squealing noises, it could be because your brake pads have completely worn down, and your brakes are applying directly to the rotors. If this is happening, you will probably also feel it when you apply the brakes, they won’t be smooth, and instead will be very rough. You may even feel your vehicle shake.
There may not be a scarier feeling than applying pressure to the brakes and nothing happens. Obviously, if your brakes aren’t working your car isn’t safe to drive, but usually brakes don’t stop working overnight. If your brakes are failing, you’ll likely notice a gradual decline in performance, and will want to have them replaced by a professional auto-mechanic in Maryland.
Do you find yourself constantly having to adjust your steering wheel because your vehicle is pulling to one side or the other? It could be a lack of air in your tires, or you may need to adjust your tire’s alignments, or it could be an issue with your brakes. If your brake pads wear at an uneven rate, it can cause your vehicle to drift. Replacing your pads should be enough to fix this issue.
No matter what issue you’re having with your brakes, we promise we’ve seen it before. When you’ve been in business as long as we have, you get fewer and fewer surprises every year. Bring your vehicle by our shop, or get into contact with us today to learn more about all of our brake repair/installation services, and all of our services.
