Winter is the harshest season we experience on this planet, and we’re not the only ones that can feel the cold. The bitter cold and harsh weather conditions can also prove disastrous for your vehicle. At General Automotive, we’ve helped thousands get their vehicles through the tough Maryland winters, and we wanted to take some time today to give you a few tips to help prepare your car for the winter.
Over time our tires wear down, and worn tires can be dangerous tires, especially during the winter when road conditions are less than ideal. If you’ve had your vehicle’s tires for some time, you should have them inspected by a trusted Maryland auto-maintenance specialist.
Obviously, nobody wants to get stranded somewhere with a broken down vehicle, but you need to be prepared for even the worst scenarios. We recommend all Marylanders keep a small survival kit somewhere in their car. In your survival kit you should keep water, food, flashlights, blankets, and anything else that may help you survive.
Many find themselves stranded due to a faulty or uncharged battery, an easy way to avoid this? Have your battery tested. We recommend you have your battery tested several times a year, and one of those times should be when the winter season begins. Bring your vehicle into our Maryland auto garage to have your battery tested, and we’ll let you know how much juice it has left.
If you need an extra hand getting your car or truck prepared for the winter, we’re here to help. We only talked about a few tips here, but with our years of experience, we have many more. Bring your vehicle by our Maryland auto garage or give us a call, and we’ll make sure you get through these winter months.
