Winter can be the harshest season of the year, and can wreak havoc on your vehicle. There are a number of steps you can take to help prepare your car for the winter, and we wanted to share some of them with you. If you need help performing any of these actions, bring your vehicle into an experienced Maryland auto-mechanic.
Ice and snow make for some of the most dangerous road conditions imaginable, and are why we recommend you switch to some heavy duty tires during the winter. When temperatures dip, the rubber in regular tires compounds, making it difficult for them to grip the road. If you live somewhere with harsh winters, consider investing in a set of winter tires.
Fluctuations in temperature will drain air out of your tires, eventually making them flat. If you see your thermometer dropping, maybe it’s time to pull out your pressure gauge and check on your tires. Check your vehicle’s owner manual to find the correct PSI (pressure per square inch) for your tires
As temperatures drop, so too will your battery’s power level. Have you been having issues getting your car started? It could be because your battery has been drained by the low temperatures. Most motorists who get stranded have battery issues, which is why we recommend having your battery tested regularly.
New Paragraph
During the winter, we never really know when it’s going to snow, which is why it’s important to keep your washer fluid levels topped off. Otherwise, you could find yourself caught in a snowstorm without the ability to see clearly, which is a less than ideal situation.
